There are several areas in and around Ocho Rios that you can go for shopping. However there are three main shopping centers and four craft markets for visitors to purchase authentic Jamaican craft items and souvenirs etc.
TAJMAHAL SHOPPING CENTER
This shopping area is located a few minutes from the Cruise Pier. It offers a wide variety of duty free shopping. It has shops featuring unique jewelry, clothing and gifts. In the duty free arena, you can get good buys on jewelry, cameras, china and crystal. Good souvenir choices include the island's well known coffees (Blue Mountain and High Mountain), Tia Maria, the made-in-Jamaica coffee liqueur, and the Jamaican over proof rum.
SONI'S PLAZA
This shopping center is conveniently located in the center of town and immediately across from the main craft shopping area. Items available at Sonis plaza is similar to those offered at the Tajmahal.
ISLAND VILLAGE
This is a themed Caribbean-style entertainment park featuring a mix of specialty stores, boutiques, restaurants and cafes. Framed around ferns and flamboyant trees, the village boasts a relax Caribbean atmosphere and a host of top quality merchandise. The complex houses duty free shops with an array of diamonds, designer watches and jewellery. You'll discover cozy shops with clever names like 'Herba Kadabra' selling healing herbs and portions, stores with beachwear, clothing, art, books, candles, toiletries etc. Island Village also features 'Reggae Xplosion' an amazing state- of-the-art showcase of Jamaican music and the world's first permanent museum devoted to reggae. Also in the village are a cinema, live outdoor performance, beach and pool facilities, a digital communications center, financial services and restaurants, including Jimmy Buffett's Margueritaville, a lively beach bar and restaurant.
OCHO RIOS CRAFT MARKET
Here Jamaican artists make and sell products that are naturally J amaican. Wooden items are crafted from the Blue Mahoe (Jamaican national tree). Visitors can get their straw crafted items customized to suit their needs while they interact with the natives
